We held our Christmas Fundraising Event at The Swan in Sherburn in Elmet on Tuesday 12th December. The morning consisted of plenty of drinks and festive snacks for our members and those who came to support the Charity. We hope everyone who attended thoroughly enjoyed our event and a big thank you to those who donated items and crafted items to be sold to help raise funds.
The event was a huge success and we are happy to announce we raised £280 and received a donation of £250 for the Sherburn Visiting Scheme in total. We would like to thank all the volunteers who came along in the morning to help prepare for the fundraising event and those who helped in the kitchen during the event, and of course a massive thank you to everyone who came along and donated to the Visiting Scheme.
We would also like to highlight that one of our long-standing members, Shirley (pictured above), who handcrafted angel keyrings and sold for £2.00 each to help raise money for the Visiting Scheme. Shirley did a fantastic job and sold over 50 of these fantastic keyrings!
We rely heavily on our own fundraising activities to help raise money to keep the Sherburn Visiting Scheme operational so if you would like to hold an event, help out or have some ideas to put forward then we would also like to hear from you.
The scheme is becoming under increasing pressure due to the increased number of people using the service and the retirement of some of our longstanding drivers. The need for new drivers is vital for the service to continue.
